Philip R. Troyk
President & Chief Executive Officer
Philip R. Troyk, President and Chief Executive Officer, received his B.S.E.E. from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in BioEngineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Troyk is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he heads the Laboratory of Neural Prosthetic Research, as well as an Affiliate Professor within the Stuart School of Business at IIT. He is also the Executive Director of the Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering at IIT.
Prior to co-founding Sigenics, Phil held positions at the Pritzker Institute of Medical Engineering, and Northrop Corp. He is the holder of 14 patents, is an internationally recognized expert in the field of neural engineering, and is the author of numerous scientific and engineering publications.
Douglas A. Kerns
Chief Technology Officer
Douglas Kerns, Chief Technology Officer, received his B.S.E.E. from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL., and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena CA.
Prior to co-founding Sigenics, Doug held engineering positions at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Analog Devices, and Tanner Research. He has authored numerous papers on circuit design, silicon sensors and synthetic neural networks.
Doug is responsible for providing scientific and technical knowledge for sensor, analog, and mixed signal applications. His vision and innovation has driven success since the company’s inception, and he has continued to evolve Sigenics’ technological expertise.
Glenn A. DeMichele
Director of Engineering
Glenn DeMichele, Director of Engineering, received his B.S.E.E. from University of Illinois, Urbana and an M.S.E.E. from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Prior to co-founding Sigenics, Glenn consulted on satellite and RADAR systems for the Naval Research Laboratory, and was on the engineering staff for Harris Semiconductor, Rockwell/Collins Avionics, Northrop Corp. and Precision Scientific. He is the holder of 9 patents, and has authored or co-authored numerous papers on neural interface devices.
Glenn oversees all of the engineering that takes place at Sigenics. His vision and creativity provide guidance to help solve any problems that may arise throughout the engineering process.
